How to Pray, Part Two: Liturgy and Morals

People who allow the liturgical life to take them along have a clear view and travel at great speed to the shore of Heaven.

The liturgy is like a huge ocean wave. If we actively plunge in, it can carry us to the shores of Heaven.

As we asked the saints to pray for us in the liturgy, I saw the saints in glory, their hands out, as they interceded for us who prayed below.

Sacred Liturgy is like a river of praise which pours from the Church, upwards towards God in Eternity; and our own personal intentions to praise God with Christ and the Church flow into that 'river', reach Heaven, and give glory to the Father.

At the end of time, Christ who rose from the dead in glory will judge all people. How fortunate will be those 'little ones' who have loved Him, and loved all who are weak, hungry, persecuted and slandered.

The best prayer is that which is offered through Christ, in the Sacred Liturgy. Yet as God gazes upon the world with love He notices with delight each 'spark' of prayer offered by people who believe in Him as their Creator and Judge and Goal.

Christ is touched to the heart by every sign of devotion to Him in His Passion, which He endured out of love for us all. He wants us to pray to Him, even if the image in our hearts or the knowledge in our hearts is not perfectly accurate. The Sacred Liturgy is supremely important for prayer, but we should encourage everyone, of every faith, to trust in God and to turn to Him in prayer.

Mortal sin is like a whirlpool. It is easy to be swept into it, and it is impossible to escape disaster. In the life based on the Sacred Liturgy, however, we can be carried powerfully along by the sacraments and holy habits, until we arrive on the shore of Heaven.

Christ spoke to me from the sanctuary, where He was Present in the tabernacle. He showed His delight in the forthcoming news about greater reverence in the Sacred Liturgy; and He turned towards His Father in Heaven, to Whom greater glory will be given by the changes.

It is not good enough for the Clergy to say, about careless, unwise celebrations of the Mass: 'People are used to it'. Whatever is shoddy, irreverent or in any way unworthy of Heaven should be put right.

Christ told me that no-one is more clear-sighted than Pope Benedict XVI about the changes which are necessary to ensure that the Sacred Liturgy is conducted in a suitable manner, worthy of Heaven.

Christ is glad to see the celebration of the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, which allows us to experience aspects of the liturgy that are both admirable and appropriate.

Through prayer, especially through the cycle of the Church's Liturgical prayer, we can enter the Mysteries of Christ's earthly life. At each of the feasts of His life we can address Him in that event, and benefit from the graces He won for us, in it. Simple people who pray to the 'infant Jesus' have an instinctive knowledge of this truth.

Christ was standing in the sanctuary; but He said that He was gazing around the whole Catholic Church on earth, saying: 'Here I am, your Divine Saviour, Really Present amongst you. But where are the Processions? Where are the banners? Where are the beautiful monstrances to honour me and to show out My Presence in the Blessed Sacrament? Years have gone past, with little Adoration or Benediction.

In deliberate steps (Christ explained), He had led me slowly towards a recognition of the reverence and beauty associated with the Traditional way of offering the Holy Sacrifice, and the customary way, for women, of veiling their hair in His Presence, during the Sacred Liturgy.
