Christ, the sinless God-man, is the champion of sinners. He reaches out to the Father, pleading for all who repent and kneel at his feet - even for those who have maimed and murdered.

Good intentions are not enough. Killing is wrong, including the killing of the sick and elderly, even if we have a good intention in mind.
Two people can look at the same scene, and one feels horror - knowing a murderer is prowling around, while the other sees only the breeze blowing in the curtains - as the sun shines down. So it was, on earth, for Christ in His life-time here. There was much beauty in the world, but He came across many damaged souls, and knew that Satan was always prowling around, doing evil.
People are bound to be confused, when the law-makers tell them that it is acceptable to arrange for a 24 week baby-in-the-womb to be killed by abortion, yet that the police should treat as murder the killing of a 24-week-gestation baby immediately after birth. Both killings are morally wrong.
Whether a man cruelly murders an innocent woman in order to steal her valuables without a witness, or kills an innocent baby currently developing in its mother's womb, an act has been done which is barbaric in God the Father's sight, and deserving of punishment - even if the circumstances vary.
A man who provides a gun for a murderer, and shows him how to use it, to shoot a victim, shares responsibility for that terrible act, just as a member of Parliament who votes for continued abortions, or greater numbers of abortions, is as blameworthy, in God's sight, as the people who carry out those dreadful procedures.
The attitude of some Catholic politicians is like that of Pontius Pilate. They say that they see abortion as wrong but do not want to impose their views on other people. Rather, like Pilate, they stand aside, and allow murder to be committed upon the innocent to satisfy the shouts of the crowd, which, for them, is much of the electorate.
Whether we are Christian or non-Christian, we cannot be saved if we are guilty of grave sin and refuse to repent. God gives constant helps to human beings, including those who do not know His Son Jesus, to help them to do good. Though minds have been darkened by original sin, all people can realise, through reflection, and use of their conscience, if they are willing, that certain things are wrong: stealing, murder, rape, slander, betrayal, and much more.
