By accepting unavoidable suffering we allow Christ's grace to pour through us to other souls
Christ showed me how He accepts all the pain that I accept for myself, and applies it, tenderly, as balm to His wounds.
Even in our sickness Christ loves us and calls us to trust him and offer up our sufferings in union with Him
For love of us, Christ gave Himself up for us, to pay our debt
Someone who wants to prepare for Heaven should simply do the Will of God, for love of God - whether it is by labouring, teaching, serving, or praying; or simply offering up her sufferings in sickness, with Jesus, to help souls.
Through prayer, penance, and by offering up our sufferings in union with Christ, we bring powerful help to those trapped in sin
Christ said that by offering up our sufferings in union with Him, in intercession for others, we can (by His grace) save people from committing mortal sin, or save sinners who are dying from falling unrepentant into Hell.

We can be helped to bear painful memories if we notice the spiritual growth that was the result of accepting and offering up those trials in union with Christ - even those caused by our own foolishness. All seems disastrous when a flower bud splits open; but only by that 'injury' can a beautiful flower emerge.
By offering up our pains and unavoidable sufferings in union with Christ in His Passion we join in His redeeming work in our generation and bring powerful help to needy souls caught in sin, sadness or near-despair.
