Christ is pleased whenever people write, speak or act to support brave organisers who work to save life. The work done by 'LIFE', for example, to save unborn babies is admirable, in the spirit of Christ our God, Whose gift life is.
Living human beings are a gift from God. The Holy Spirit gives life; and it is He Who receives insult and offense wherever people treat human embryos as so much rubbish to be thrown away.
We live in a country which is apparently peaceful and civilised; but there are dreadful things happening which few individuals or groups are wiling to protest about. Some people laugh at the Church, as they laughed at Noah. Yet the Catholic Church in this country is like an ark, in which all human life can find defenders. She opposes embryo destruction, abortion, starvation of the sick and elderly, 'euthanasia' and many more anti-life practices.

In societies where abortion is allowed in grave circumstances, it then becomes common-place, then is claimed as a 'right'; and this leads to the gradual approval of further types of killing, such as withdrawal of sustenance from the sick, doctor-assisted suicide, or even calls for the infanticide of children handicapped or sick. It can even lead to pro-life supporters being called religious fanatics.
A brave politician who is willing to defend innocent life by protesting against the misguided Government's provision of abortion 'services' is of the same mind as God on this issue, even if he is mistaken about less important matters in everyday life, and unclear about other matters of justice.
Christ is delighted by every effort we make to show people that the tiny babies who are rejected, and even dismembered or poisoned by abortion, are human beings, no matter how small. God gave them life; and like all humans they are worthy of respect and tender care, not slaughter because they are judged inconvenient or disabled.
We are right to defend human rights. Each person has been given life by God. However, there are no human rights, if the right to life is ignored. There are no human rights to fight for, if the right to life is ignored. So when Catholics write about such issues, they must first protest about the evil practice of abortion, before defending, for example, a right to food, shelter, a just wage, and other matters.
There are no human rights, if the right to life is denied. It is an admirable thing, to substitute friendship for racism, housing for destitution, justice for lynch-law, education for child labour, and freedom, for slavery; yet what use are such human rights to someone whose very right to life, in its very eartly stages, had been denied, in the merciless act of direct abortion?
We need to pray for all people in Government. No Government is wise, which forgets that it rules under God. No Government in a Christian country can flourish if it takes no account of Christian feast-days, and undermines the moral teachings of the Church. Those of us who can, should speak out against anti-life and anti-Christian legislation.
Some people distance themselves from God: those who see children as a nuisance, pregnancy as a disaster, and who are actively involved in supporting or providing direct abortions, as well as people who enjoy pornographic images of abused, defenceless children, and those who maliciously corrupt or abuse children for sexual pleasure. Unless they repent before they die, they will find themselves completely separated from God, by their own fault, forever.
In helping a pregnant woman, we might save a baby's life. Christ takes tremendous delight in the efforts we make to oppose abortion, and so save innocent lives, whether by intercession for all involved, and for the mothers, fathers and babies - and by campaigning with charity, to change the minds of politicians and others who support abortion by words, finance, and publicity.
