Some hearts are so cluttered with vain desires that Christ's praise cannot stream up to the Father from their souls.

The less we cling to our own desires, the more easily can Christ clothe us in His own virtues and beauty.
A departed soul (a good person) emerged from a thin cocoon of self-love, and was all the while speeding towards Heaven's glory.
In Purgatory we can emerge from self-love and speed towards the glory of Heaven
The least scrap of pride or self-righteousness prevents God's light from pouring within the soul, as surely as when the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
A person who lives in self-love, greed, pride, hard-heartedness or any sinful state, who will not change, builds a 'brick wall' between himself and God: the God who is made Present in every celebration of the Mass
Each of us must 'climb' to Heaven in faith, hope and love, if we wish to reach glory, and avoid the smoke of Hell which lies below. With humility we can hope to persevere to the end, and to avoid lukewarmness, despair or self-satisfaction.
A soul who is absorbed in itself, devoid of warmth towards its fellow creatures, is in a dangerous state. It resembles the frozen wastes of the Arctic, where there is little life or joy or hope.
The sins and self-love shown in our world cover our world like an all-enveloping cloud. Wherever someone acts in pure charity, it's as if a gap is made in the cloud; and God's light can shine upon earth in a difficult situation, for needy people.
Whenever we intercede for someone, in Jesus' name, it's as though a ray of light and grace from Heaven pierces the dark 'cloud' of sin and self-love over our world, to touch the life of someone in need of help.
We 'worship' ourselves by fulfilling only our own plans and ambitions, with little thought for God's wishes. If we idolise ourselves we shall have little possibility of being with God in Eternity.

We need to examine our lives, to see if Christ is really 'enthroned' in our hearts and homes, or whether the 'god' we serve is our own desires and ambitions.
Christ told me how little the Cross is mentioned by preachers and teachers today: the Cross on which He suffered because of the grievous sins no longer mentioned. He is grieving, too, because people say that devotion to His Mother is old fashioned, and because Catholic school children are often taught more about self-esteem than humility.
Some people are so engrossed in their own interests that it is only when an apparent disaster tears a jagged hole in their hearts or in the fabric of their lives that they look up, yearning for help - and allow the Holy Spirit, unceasingly ready to help, to bring light, truth and consolation into their lives.
Jesus is the 'Lamb of God' we adore at Mass. Jesus, Who sacrificed Himself to save us from our sins, was once a flesh and blood baby, like those being sacrificed today by abortion, often on the 'altar' of convenience and self-love, though some young women act in terror or ignorance.
