Christ does not leave us alone in our sickness and troubles, but comes to us in His sacrament, accompanied by Angels.
The Holy Ones who adore Christ in His Holy Sacrifice, venerate Him in His Sacrament, as He is carried to the sick.
Christ is close to His friends, in every circumstance. One day Christ asked His Angels to wait at one side, in Holy Communion, as He sat down beside me, put out His hand to comfort me, and urged me to rest beside Him in my sickness and exhaustion.

It was a glimpse of true freedom, that one could be weak and ill-clothed, yet content to accept Christ's Will.
Christ my Lord waited patiently until the pain subsided. My desire to pray was as pleasing to Him as my words.
Even in our sickness Christ loves us and calls us to trust him and offer up our sufferings in union with Him
If I appear to be useless, Christ loves me in my weakness. All He wants is my willing heart.

The soul which lives for the love of God is like a lamp before Him, full of light, even through the frail body fades.

God is at work even when we are physically frail - He can slowly 'detach' us from life, as a backing fabric is slowly removed from a piece of tape, to prepare us for Heaven.
When I am close to God, in sickness, putting my trust in Him, I am like a child who rests on her Father's shoulder.

When we are ill, and Christ comes to us in Holy Communion, it's as if He insists in helping us to lie down on a couch; and when He is sure that we are resting comfortably, He sits on the floor beside us, so that we can talk at leisure - or simply be quiet.
