The message preached by a faithful Pope is consistent, coherent, and effective for those who receive it and who therefore 'live in the light'. It is a message for the whole world. And Pope John Paul II, who has preached it so well, and has now died, has 'soared' into the heart of the Godhead, in death - a 'place' with which he was familiar through prayer.

Those who accept God's plans, and God's help, can be made ready before death for their meeting with God. They allow themselves to be changed, and thoroughly reconciled, and made ready for Heaven.

We imitate Christ, Who painfully climbed a stairway towards Pilate, as we ascend a holy stairway from earth to Heaven, trying by God's grace to remain trusting and faithful to the end.

There is only one Way across the dark abyss which separates earth from Heaven. Christ has made that Way, through His Incarnation, and from all that followed in His earthly life.

There have been may attempts made by men to reach Heaven. Everyone deserves to hear the good news that God has revealed to mankind, in and through His Divine Son, Jesus Christ, Who has made a Way for all to follow: a safe and sure Way to Heaven.

The Kingdom of Heaven, where God reigns in glory, extends as far as Earth: to each place, or each soul, where God's Will is done. Wherever people believe what is taught by Christ and His Church, and out of love for Christ put his teachings into practice, in truth, justice, love, purity and holiness, the Kingdom is made present. All are invited to enter.

Time and space seem to vanish at the Mass, after the consecration. We are present to the once-for-all Sacrifice offered on our altar in a sacramental manner. We pray with and through Christ to our Heavenly Father, as if at the foot of the cross, with Mary, our Mother.

Christ invites us to appear at the altar rail, to receive Holy Communion; and at the end of life to appear at the rail at the edge of Heaven, made holy and ready to enter.

Christ showed me that all those people in the hundred-year-old newsreel are now dead, and are in Heaven or Hell or Purgatory. How many were aware that their behaviour had eternal consequences? And each of us alive today will end our lives with a meeting with almighty God.

Christ made an amazing 'descent' from Heaven, as if across a vast distance, leaving the glory and holiness of Heaven to become man, to live amongst us, to die and rise again to save us from our sins, and to open Heaven's 'door' to all who believe in Him.

When we sincerely repent of our sins and weaknesses it is as if a trapdoor opens above our head, as Heaven's light shines in, to bring us peace, light and closer union with God.

The Saints in Heaven are well-placed to be able to turn to God and pray for us who still strive for holiness. The Saints are holier and more prayerful than even our kindest and most prayerful friends on earth; and we are wise if we ask for their help.

Some people, even though they have been saved, see clearly when they die how ill-prepared they are for Heaven, as if wearing filthy clothes - because they have neglected penance and prayer. They see all this in Heaven's light- yet they also see how merciful is God, Who invites them into Purgatory.

It is right and necessary that we 'children of God' encourage others too to live in union with God through Baptism, and to persevere in love to the end. It is God's wish that when we are purified we enter Heaven as 'fire entering fire'. In God, there will be no more suffering or pain. Christ came down to earth, sharing our life, to offer us a share in His life.

The light of the Holy Spirit shines in the soul of someone who prays in Jesus' name; and those earnest prayers are heard in Heaven. It took decades of prayer before Communism fell in Russia. We must not lose hope that, with persevering prayer, the evil of abortion can be overcome.

People in television programmes are pictured 'before' and 'after', as they learn social skills. How many of God's own people strive to grow in charity, courtesy, self-control, knowledge and gratitude, so that they might be at ease, mingling with Saints and Angels in Heaven?
