Through His Ascension Christ provides a powerful link between human beings and God because He is both true God and true man.

Christ and His Holy Mother are creator and creature, yet Christ, the God-man, "owes" to Mary His human nature, His flesh and blood.

When the Blessed Virgin Mary reached the end of her life, she was lifted into glory by Christ her beloved Son. Body and Soul, she entered Heaven. Christ was enfleshed of her at His conception; He could not allow her to die and be buried like sinful people.

At His Incarnation, it's as though Christ descended to people trapped and lost in a deep mine-shaft. At intervals, He gives special help to lost souls by sending helpers along who give clear reminders of how to find Christ, and rise up to the light.

The Cross on which Christ died is a worthy and apt symbol for Christians: a symbol of the love which brought Him to earth, even to death, for our sakes; and of His power. He Who rose from the grave can raise us up as well.

Christ descended a great distance to join us in our world, yet He had the joy of being with a Mother who, though not divine, was pure and holy. It was fitting that she was lifted, body and soul, out of our sinful world, when her work was done, so that she might 'rest' eternally with Him Who had 'rested' with her.

Christ is truly God and man. He possesses all the attributes of Divinity, just as a single flame, being fire, has all the properties of an unconfined, blazing fire. All other supposed divinities adored by man are products of the imagination.

Jesus Christ is true God, who took on our human nature, having the humility and goodness to come amongst us as a mere infant.
