Christmas is 'about' the entry into our world of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, our Saviour, in all His power, Divinity and holiness - though He hid His glory for most of His life on earth, and in fact began His life on earth as an infant.

God the Son was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary. No more dramatic and marvellous event had ever occurred upon earth than the appearance of the infant Who was fully God and fully human. And He had come to earth so that we can go to Heaven.

Jesus Christ came to share our life on earth, in His Nativity, so that we could go to Heaven.

Our Lady of Sorrows: Truly, Our Blessed Lady suffered horribly as Jesus Christ her beloved son died in torment on the Cross. It is as if we pray with her at the foot of the Cross, each time we pray before the altar in church at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

From our sanctuary, at every Mass, Jesus Christ our Saviour offers the prayer He prayed for us during His Passion, as He died on Calvary: "Father, forgive them". And His Mother stands beside Him.

As I offered my pains in union with Jesus, as penance for my own sins and for those who don't do penance, the Lord showed me that by our penances we give tremendous help to people trapped in sin - who are as if trapped underground.

When Christ is made Present before us at the Consecration, the holy Angels stand awe-struck at the love He shows towards us by coming amongst us in this astounding way. They are absorbed in adoration of the God-man, Jesus, substantially Present in the Holy Eucharist.

Whenever we intercede for someone, in Jesus' name, it's as though a ray of light and grace from Heaven pierces the dark 'cloud' of sin and self-love over our world, to touch the life of someone in need of help.

A person who receives Jesus Christ in Holy Communion but then scarcely talks to Him in prayer is like a man who welcomes a visitor then leaves Him in the hall-way whilst himself going off to watch television. That is to offer only a lukewarm welcome.

Christ told me that it was true He had not the pleasure of hot baths, such as ours today; yet He had lakes and rivers for refreshment - and, for much of the time, warm weather. In every time of Earth's history, there have been good things to enjoy.

St. Joseph looked at his wife, Mary, with awe and wonder as well as love. His devotion to her was heart-felt and unflagging, as he counted himself privileged to be able to care for her and her Divine Son.

Every follower of Jesus is on a journey to Heaven, with ravines to cross and mountains to climb; yet Jesus' true friends persevere in faith, hope and love, and set an example for other people who long to reach Heaven.

In descending to earth as man, the Son of God came to share His Divine power, life, wisdom and joy. He showers with extraordinary gifts all who follow His instructions and, for love of Him, follow His Way.

We can say that Jesus the God-man came to earth to found the Church. In and through the Church we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit; we receive the Divine life and power Christ brought to earth at His Incarnation, and the Divine Food (the Holy Eucharist).

Through the Church we have everything we need to live as children of God in a sinful world. We even have praise to offer to God our Father which is worthy of Him: praise which is offered by Jesus Christ, Sacramentally Present in our midst, at Mass.

The Catholic Church teaches the glorious truth that, in the past, God reached out to human beings in various ways; in the future, He will reward all who have remained faithful; and in the present moment He remains with His Church, guides us through the Pope and other Catholic Bishops, and is Present with us through Jesus's sacramental Presence.

God wants everyone to come to knowledge of the truth: about the meaning of life, and about His love for us, revealed in His Son Jesus Christ. But people who avoid the truth or refuse to change are trapped in a darkness of their own making, unlike believers who turn to Heaven with confidence.

A person in mortal sin who refuses to abandon his evil ways is half way down the steps which lead to Hell. By his own choice, he is in a dangerous place. If he dies now, he will 'fall' into Hell; whereas if he repents before death he will be achieve safety on 'high', in a state of grace, with Jesus and Mary.

A person who dies, and who is ready for Heaven, moves to the heart of the Holy Trinity, to live in Eternal bliss and fulfilment. He has been saved by the merits of Jesus, the only Saviour, and the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
