Christ looks on with wonder at the doctor who has repented of the abortions he did, and who bravely speaks out about the sanctity of human life and its importance from the moment of conception.

The Lord sees much of our world as being a bleak landscape, cold and almost lifeless, where even the gift of a living human being is seen as a nuisance and impediment to joy.

The Church is like a bright home, full of life, in an almost deserted, snowy landscape. Where people really love life, and love and welcome children, they also care for the old and the sick - unlike many around them who work to extinguish life.

The Lord sees modern life as resembling a bleak landscape, when even the gift of a living human being, who is very small and in need of nourishing, is met not with gratitude but with poison or the knife.

Some parents arrange to have their children killed before birth, which is against the Will of God Who creates us all and Who alone gives life.

Good people work to raise awareness of the immorality of neglecting the poor. Far fewer are raising awareness - for the good of souls - of another sort of immorality, which is unchastity in all its forms, and abortion and contraception.

The light of the Holy Spirit shines in the soul of someone who prays in Jesus' name; and those earnest prayers are heard in Heaven. It took decades of prayer before Communism fell in Russia. We must not lose hope that, with persevering prayer, the evil of abortion can be overcome.

The Lord asks us to believe, about human life, that it is His free gift. Each unique, miniature human being has received life from God. It is as if a procession of tiny infants is moving from Heaven to earth, to be received in the loving union of man and woman. Alas, many children are not welcomed.

Only by the power poured down from Heaven to faithful souls, and through the work done by them to spread the Good News and to make reparation for sin, can the violence and slaughter in the world be overcome, as Heaven rejoices in every success in the war against violence and evil.

Christ is pleased whenever people write, speak or act to support brave organisers who work to save life. The work done by 'LIFE', for example, to save unborn babies is admirable, in the spirit of Christ our God, Whose gift life is.

What must it be like for Christ, Who gives the gift of life, and often sees it rejected by those who destroy a life in the womb, when it has only just begun, or who bear children but see them as burdens, and fail to teach, guide or show love?

The mother of a priest should recognise her part in the development of his vocation. First, she was grateful for the gift of a child, when so many mothers choose to refuse that gift and arranged for their tiny babies to be destroyed in the womb. And most mothers of priests have provided encouragement in the Catholic Faith, and an example of trust in God.
