Someone who holds firmly to untruth is in danger of the 'poison' escaping and contaminating every other thought - as when a leaking jar ruins a store-cupboard.

Priests should be like Christ, Who invited people to repent of their sins. It is not for priests to act solely as counsellors and comforters, without also speaking the truth about the serious sins which can entrap us.

Catholic priests should indeed give us good advice. Yet their principle purpose in the confessional, in the sacrament of Penance, is to forgive our sins. They are not ordained to be like secular counsellors.

Just as a mother distracts a child with something 'good' before removing a dangerous object, so God gives good gifts to the Church through Radiant Light, and other new ecclesial movements, as a prelude to 'removing' poor catechesis, cowardly preaching, and other spiritual dangers very widespread today.

If we guide a person towards danger, we are responsible for their injuries, whether on a beach, or through publishing bad books, or in any area of life.
