The whole Church is gathered around the central place of Sacrifice: the Church of heaven, earth and Purgatory

Though we can see hints of God's glory in nature, we can only 'touch' God in and through Christ. Sin made a gigantic barrier - like a vast curtain across the skies - between Heaven and earth. At his death, a man was delivered to the demons, whose suggestions he had followed in earthly life - instead of following God's laws. They began to inflict on him those torments which he had inflicted upon his victims without mercy.

Only in Heaven can God finally demonstrates the fullness of His love for us. If He did this in earthly life, we would die of joy - though He does give extraordinary gifts and joys to those who love Him, in contemplation. So, too, a loving grandfather on earth cannot hug the new child with too much affection, or he would hurt him. He much restrain himself, and show love through his care.

If we shrink from sacrifice, we should reflect on the truth, that everything we value on earth shall be surrendered at death; yet everything worthy of Heaven - people too - shall be found 'in Christ' in Eternity. Christ, today, can give us the grace to see life from the standpoint of eternity.

God 'saw that it was good'. Nothing in creation lies 'outside' the love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In all our travels, and travails, we are in His loving care.

The Cross on which Christ died is a worthy and apt symbol for Christians: a symbol of the love which brought Him to earth, even to death, for our sakes; and of His power. He Who rose from the grave can raise us up as well.

When we forgive someone for a specific deed, God's grace is at work in us. His forgiveness flows through us, as water flows through a tap in Lourdes. Yet when we are so full of charity that love and forgiveness 'flow out' of us upon every thought and deed we are Godlike; for His forgiveness is like the water that pours unceasingly down a mountainside.

When someone prays in rapt attention to God, and is even lifted 'high' by Him in contemplation, it's as if she holds aside a curtain which had shut out the light of Heaven. She has made it possible - by God's grace - for His graces to pour down upon earth upon other people.

Christ unites his friends on earth in the 'Communion of Saints'. Every prayer offered through Christ touches or helps other souls.
