The sins and self-love shown in our world cover our world like an all-enveloping cloud. Wherever someone acts in pure charity, it's as if a gap is made in the cloud; and God's light can shine upon earth in a difficult situation, for needy people.

Whenever we intercede for someone, in Jesus' name, it's as though a ray of light and grace from Heaven pierces the dark 'cloud' of sin and self-love over our world, to touch the life of someone in need of help.

There is a place for formal prayer, Christ explained. Yet some of our prayer with Him should be like the conversation between two friends who stroll down a street together, pointing out items of interest, or calling to mind certain persons.

Christ sees that humble people are willing to benefit from the customs and sacramentals of the Church, in order to gain extra graces, receive Divine protection, and feel assured of certain help from God and the Saints and Angels.

A person who is trapped in serious sin is like someone trapped on a small ledge, deep down in the Abyss. Only by a short step will she arrive in Hell, one day, unless she repents first. The prayers others offer for her are like a life-line sent down for her to grasp.

A person trapped in sin can benefit from the prayers of other people on her behalf. Through them, God can shine a light on that sinner's life and actions, so she can see things clearly, and decide to change. God is merciful - but some people refuse to act in response to His love.

A person who dies, and who is ready for Heaven, moves to the heart of the Holy Trinity, to live in Eternal bliss and fulfilment. He has been saved by the merits of Jesus, the only Saviour, and the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Jesus would be the first to help a friend in need. Likewise, He urged me not to worry about leaving my prayer in order to deal with a little mishap. Friends understand one another.

When we request prayers of the Saints, we can be sure that their intercessions are fruitful. The Lord hears them, and pours His graces upon the people we've prayed for: people in great need of help. It's as though a spotlight shines from Heaven on their behaviour, to help them to change it - though some decide to ignore Heaven's help.

Though we know that the Saints do not sit upon the clouds, as shown in ancient pictures, the truth shown out through those pictures remains the same: that the Saints are with God in Heaven, and that they look upon us with love, and help us by their prayers.

No sick person should believe that he is 'useless'. The Lord invites each one to prepare for Heaven, to practice patience, to pray simple prayers and to trust in the love of the Holy Trinity.

Christ our God is Present in the sanctuary, with the Saints who now live in His love. He longs to welcome His friends, and to pour His graces upon us - and also reaches out to those who have not yet surrendered to His loving Will.

It was an earnest request from the Lord: "Tell everybody who will listen" - that Jesus our God and Saviour is truly Present at every Mass, 'hidden' in the sacred species, and praying just as He did on Calvary, for sinners.

Christ invites us to trust in His holy Mother Mary, and to ask for her prayers, especially under the title 'Mother of Perpetual Help'. Many graces are poured out upon the needy because of her intercessions.

The Saints of Heaven are aware of the problem of sin. They pray that we will turn to Christ, put our trust in Him, and find grace to be worthy, when our work is done, to enter Heaven and join them.

Our prayers, with the prayers of the Saints (whose intercession we seek), rise up like incense to Heaven, like a fragrant offering which is acceptable to Him.

The prayers of the Saints, offered for needy souls, are like a fragrant offering to God. As they rise to Heaven, they can penetrate even those hearts which are locked 'from the inside', and persuade sinners to open their hearts to God.

People who repent of their sins show their contrition in different ways. Real repentance causes souls to turn to God as did St. Ignatius Loyola and others. But Judas rushed away to kill himself, despite his sorrow. Hence the need to pray for one another.

There are many children who, left to themselves, make foolish or selfish decisions about their behaviour; for example, many choose to watch pornography on their computers instead of doing their school-work. Yet Christ is at work, by His grace, calling back each one to find lasting joy and fulfilment.
