Christ gave me a pageant of joy, like a gift to a child, to balance the memory of a past pageant of torment and sorrow.

The Saints are gathered here with Christ, at Exposition, all radiant with joy at His love and our devotion.

It is the Holy Spirit Who pours peace within the souls of Christ's friends, and even allows such souls to share that peace, even at a distance, through their communion with one another 'in Christ'. They can encourage one another to more fervent prayer - as when happy dolphins nudge one another, to encourage joyful leaps into the sunlight above the surface of the water.

I must descend a 'stairway' from the heights of prayer, to re-enter ordinary life; yet in Heaven, there will be unending celebration.

If I remain always at the foot of the cross, I'll remember that all the graces I now enjoy were won through Christ's lonely torment on Calvary. How can I then become proud or self-satisfied?

Our Blessed Lady was with me, with her Son, offering an Easter greeting. They were both delighted by my joy at seeing them, and my joy at knowing they are happy in Heaven.

At the Easter Mass, I said that I wished I had known her better. Then Our Lady was beside me, greeting me, delighting in my joy.

It's as if the 'heart' of each person, in his private union with God, is sheltered behind a huge wall; yet the fire of charity and joy which blazes there can be glimpsed from a distance.

What does the 'eternity' of hell or heaven mean? It means 'captured unchangeably', whether in selfishness or a state of grace; either being held eternally without God, by the free choices of an individual soul, or being held forever in friendship with God, to the degree to which the soul enjoyed at the moment of death. As a fly, suddenly imprisoned by a drop of amber, is held 'forever' in the state it was in when the liquid fell upon it, so the soul retains forever its state at the moment of death - even though those held in God's friendship can undergo some purification.

Whenever we pray 'Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit', with a sincere heart, it's as if a sunspot erupts in our hearts, as glory streams up to God, to honour Him and to bring delight to the whole of Heaven.

As gigantic flames leap up from the surface of the sun, so the ardent soul's fervent prayers leap up - as great 'flames' of glory - towards Heaven, whenever we offers sincere words of praise to God. This gives joy to the soul, and joy to Heaven.

Jesus suffered in body and soul, and we need not feel guilty if we do not 'feel' fervent and joyful in our difficulties, as long as we are actively trying to do God's Will, and to remain faithful.

How embarrassed we would be if the sins we commit were to appear as stains on our 'outside', like dirty stains on our clothes. Christ wants us to realise that He sees, at every moment, all the sins we have committed and have not yet confessed. He wants us to be made clean, and joyful, through repentance and confession.

When people ask the way, it is kind to tell the truth; for example, to explain if they are in a cul-de-sac. So it is in the life of faith. Those who ask questions of us deserve a clear answer about the best Way to travel in order to find God and Heaven and Eternal Joy. It is helpful to offer a free map.

Each person on earth, scarred by original sin, is invited to share the life of the Three Divine Persons, One God, who live in infinite joy and radiance.
