Christ is radiant and joyful in His Risen Life

Our life on Earth is lived in darkness, as though in the basement of a huge palace; the spiritual stairs lead to Heaven.

Whenever Mass is clebrated in our country, it's as if Calvary appears at the heart of England. Those of us who did not live with Christ in his lifetime or stand beside his Cross in history can nevertheless unite ourselves with Him and with His once-for-all Sacrifice, as it is re-presented at every Mass, where Christ is truly Present, praying on our behalf.

As when a hollow is scooped in the sand, the ocean's wave pours in, so Divine life pours into a soul who by loving is 'emptied' to receive it.

When Christ is Really Present before us, in the Holy Sacrifice, we are present to His entire life, which is "in" Him now.

The painful purification which souls undergo in this life (if they consent) is like the pains of Purgatory, before 'birth' into Heaven.

God is at work even when we are physically frail - He can slowly 'detach' us from life, as a backing fabric is slowly removed from a piece of tape, to prepare us for Heaven.

The greatest joy in earthly life would be to live wholly united to Christ, at the summit of union, on the mountain of sanctity.

By God's grace, each day can be spent in Christ's company, as if living half-way into Heaven, throughout each moment of work and prayer.
