The journey from life to death is like being on a cable-car between two mountains. Sometimes, mid-journey, we seem to be making little progress; but if we persevere in faith, we can trust that amazing things are happening, and that we are moving slowly towards our final destination with God.

Amongst the many people in Heaven are parents who would have liked to receive love and thanks from their children in earthly life. God wants families to show love for one another.

Christ is pleased whenever someone writes clearly about right and wrong in marriage. Few are willing to support and promote the Church's teaching about openness to life and the immorality of contraception.

Jesus said that it is a narrow gate that leads to life, and a hard road. Prayer is the gate. If we refuse to enter it, how can we ask for forgiveness, receive the sacraments, grow in the knowledge and love of God, receive His gifts in prayer, and follow the way to Heaven?

Whoever is willing to abandon prayer to attend to a needy neighbour is, as she reaches out to help, reaching out to Christ, who looks on with love and gratitude. The greatest love for God is shown in doing His Will, whether in prayer or service.

Christians have a clear 'view' of life's purpose, and life's Way, and life's goal. Those without Christian faith and the truths of faith are like searchers in a helicopter in the dark, who can only see what is lit up in a small pool of light in each successive moment. But they cannot see the Way, or the goal.

Just as a mother delights in all her children, with all their differences, so God delights in the different races to which we belong, with our various differences.

Whoever wants to assess the intrinsic nature and purpose of any group or movement, secular or religious, should examine the life and attitudes of each group's founder, and the basic principles expounded by that person, and their relation to truth.

Each of us must one day stand before God, to give an account of our life on Earth, for our 'particular judgement'. Each person who is a true child of God will enter Heaven, or be helped to prepare for Heaven. Those who have no love for God or their neighbour cannot enter Heaven or Purgatory. Their journey ends in the Abyss.

It is essential that we love God, and love our neighbour. There really will be a Last Judgement, when those who have put their trust in Christ are rewarded and those who were disobedient and rebellious will be sent away to Hell. By our freely-made choices in everyday life we are each moving towards the heights of glory or towards the torments of the damned.

Those who are saved, at death, but in need of purification, are like people who travel a long way underground to a vast, bright area, with operating theatres and physiotherapy departments, where sick people are treated until they have been made fit enough to ascend the escalator to Life in Heaven.

The Lord asks us to believe, about human life, that it is His free gift. Each unique, miniature human being has received life from God. It is as if a procession of tiny infants is moving from Heaven to earth, to be received in the loving union of man and woman. Alas, many children are not welcomed.

Some Governments who should serve God, and protect and help their people, fail to do so - and even live in unbridled luxury whilst ignoring the poverty of their own people.

Governments offend God when they fail to protect and help their people, or when they attack people making legitimate protests, or when they live in unbridled luxury while their people starve, or when they pass corrupt laws, or are unjust in the distribution of goods.

Ever since the time when Christ offered His life for sinners, on Calvary, and prayed for us to be forgiven, that same Sacrifice and sacrificial prayer have been offered by Christ for sinners: in a sacramental manner, all over the world, century by century, at every celebration of the Mass.

Wherever the Mass is celebrated, those present are present to the whole of Christ's redeeming work, achieved during His life on earth and including His death on the Cross. At every Mass, the graces of Redemption are made available in a particular place and era.
