Where irreverence and dissent go unchecked, and a false gospel is preached, there are few vocations to Priesthood or to religious life. How can people who disbelieve large parts of the Faith hand it on with conviction?

Where families are faithful to the teachings of the Church, out of love for Christ and His pastors, they act as a seed-bed for vocations to the Priesthood and religious life. How can the Faith be handed on fervently by Catholics who don't believe or practice it?

In earthly life, there exist prisons where life is unbearable, as prisoners fight one another, and are tormented by guards who leave them hungry, thirsty, and knee deep in excrement. People in Hell suffer even worse torments, in their terrible spiritual state; and one of the worst is knowing that there will never be any prospect of release.

When Christ taught His disciples the 'Beatitudes', He was speaking about perfection. He knew that the people who heard Him already knew the importance of keeping the Commandments.

Far 'above' us, in the heights of Heaven, lives the Father, Whom we praise in the Mass, through Christ His Son. The Father is the Source of Life. It is the Father's plan that children be conceived in their mother's wombs, and benefit from a father's care. Marriage should not be destroyed by any modern trend or new practice.

By showing concern about people who need food and drink, we demonstrate the love in our hearts - as Jesus did when He healed a little girl, the asked for her to be fed, and as we do when we work for our own family day after day, for many years.

We need not live in dull austerity. Just as Christ changed water into 'the best wine', not the most ordinary, so I have done right to ensure 'the best' for our home; this means not extravagance, but whatever is pleasant, helpful, beautiful, and comfortable, for visitors and family.

As my heart aches now, Christ told me, so His heart ached, when in His earthly lifetime He saw people ignore His wise words and refuse to follow the Way to Heaven. He watched as they walked towards damnation.

A person who repents of sin, goes to Confession, receives absolution, prays and offers penance as the Church requests, and who perseveres in love and service, is eventually drawn into the life and prayer of the Holy Trinity, as if spiralling in a heavenly dance of delight, in known and blissful union.

Those who, at the end of a sinful life, refuse to repent, cannot rise up to Heaven, but must 'fall' far below, into Hell. It is like a terrible prison from which there is no escape.

Some will fall down in adoration, believing in Him at last, and will be saved, even if they need purification. Others will recognise Him as the enemy of the evil which they continued to love in earthly life, and despise Him, and hurl themselves away from Him, to end in Hell.

Christ looks on with joy as a man who was once involved in violent and criminal activities now travels widely, speaking to young people about 'life in Christ', and working to lead them onto the right path, and away from all that is evil.
