When I praised God for the beauty of the trees at the entrance to the village, and for the evening sky, I heard Him say: 'This is my gift to you.' He added: all true beauty has its source in Him. All good things we enjoy in accordance with His Will are part of His Providential plan for our delight.

Even when we trust in God and try to serve Him, it can seem as if life is a puzzle, with unexpected and ill-fitting parts. If we persevere, however, we shall see how Christ has been at work to make a special pattern out of those apparent oddments, for a special reason.

Christ can see the life of each one of us, from start to finish. Through His omniscience as God, He sees exactly what use we will make of our free-will, and His gifts and graces. He sees the good choices and the bad, and sees all of our reactions to His invitations and interventions. He sees who will reach sanctity.

It is important that when we pray for other people, we pray with confidence and hope. God has foreseen everything that will ever happen. He has already taken account of our prayers, in His plans for souls, and our world. We should trust that when we ask, He helps.

We might sometimes question the wisdom of surrendering to God's Will, when we imagine our own plans are good. Yet His plan for us is always best: so great, eventually, that it's as if, in following His Will, we have accepted a life with a King in His Coronation Coach, even when we had not expected such goodness.

Behind the laws of the universe, and the orderly instincts by which creatures are guided to nest, mate and rear their young, we can discern the great Mind which is wise and powerful enough - since it is God's mind - to guide and help every human being.

No matter how much confusion or uncertainty we experience - even in sickness or danger - there is one, living God in control of the Universe, in Whose care we live. Whether we live or die, we live and die at times appointed by Him, even when we object.

No matter how people die, whether of sickness, old age, or in what seem like accidents or freak storms or earthquakes, no-one leaves this life one second earlier or later than the time appointed by God the Father, Who governs all things and all people.

No-one dies and leaves earthly life at a moment that has occurred by accident. No-one leaves earthly life one second before or after the moment decreed by the Father, Who loves us all and governs our lives, and the whole Universe.

When we surrender to the plans and wishes of our Heavenly Father, as made known to us through the Church, and through Providential meetings and conversations, it's as though we allow God to carry us along on a river of grace, wherever the current takes us; in this way we give joy to Christ, who also did His Father's Will.

When people think about the subject of death, many speak about accidents. Yet God in His Providence decides the length of each person's life on earth. As a farmer sows the seed, and harvests the crop when it is ready, so God brings His friends home to Heaven when their work is done.
