Christ held out to me a purple cloak, like the one which was draped over His shoulders before his crucifixion. He invited me to put it on, as a sign that I accept the sufferings which He asks me to endure in patience on the path ahead.

Catholics who do not pray, or who hope to do good but without prayer, cannot draw from Christ the graces they need for a vigorous spiritual life. They are like grapes that are shrivelling on the vine, through separation.

Those who do abortions use euphemisms such as 'termination' or 'therapeutic procedure'. But the result is the same: thousands of tiny dead babies, to be disposed of, who were killed because they were inconvenient, ripped from the womb before birth.

The sin of rape is repulsive in God's sight, and rightly punished as a criminal act. Yet the victim can choose to hate or to love. She can hate the rapist, and, out of fear and panic, destroy a child conceived; or she can look with love upon the innocent child, and be merciful, and in sparing his life, support new life and not more violence and death.

Whether we are Christian or non-Christian, we cannot be saved if we are guilty of grave sin and refuse to repent. God gives constant helps to human beings, including those who do not know His Son Jesus, to help them to do good. Though minds have been darkened by original sin, all people can realise, through reflection, and use of their conscience, if they are willing, that certain things are wrong: stealing, murder, rape, slander, betrayal, and much more.
