Even in the coldest, bleakest surroundings, no-one on earth, not even the poorest peasant in the most dingy hovel (Christ explained) has the right to end his own life or to ask someone to do it for him. If we accepted the power of God into our lives, the love given through Christ, we would look after one another.

Christ said to me, about the Tridentine Mass: "It is My wish that the Ancient Rite be restored, and thus help restore reverence all over the earth".

There is a place for formal prayer, Christ explained. Yet some of our prayer with Him should be like the conversation between two friends who stroll down a street together, pointing out items of interest, or calling to mind certain persons.

In Holy Communion, Christ did not weary me with conversation, but invited me to lean on Him, just as He had once shown me before, and to enjoy His Presence in perfect peace and contentment.

Christ invited me to rest upon His shoulder. He could see how ill I was, and exhausted, as I received Him in Holy Communion.

Just as I have rested in Our Lady's arms at home, in prayer, so Jesus, as a child, nestled in her arms long ago. Imagine what He learned, from being close to someone so tender and true. Imagine how she grew in ever greater holiness, being so close to Him.

We need not live in dull austerity. Just as Christ changed water into 'the best wine', not the most ordinary, so I have done right to ensure 'the best' for our home; this means not extravagance, but whatever is pleasant, helpful, beautiful, and comfortable, for visitors and family.

Christ looks with great tenderness and love upon us all; yet He helps with especial care all who are too sick or weak to give much time to prayer. It is as if He gently lays them down, and invites them to rest in His presence, knowing that they are loved.

The Lord spoke to me about a wedding, saying: "Spend whatever you like. It is a celebration!" He said that the Church endorses the good human instinct to have special clothing, and beautiful surroundings, for special occasions, for anniversaries too, and feast days. The Lord Himself asked for beauty to surround the Ark in the Tabernacle, in the ddesert, and in the Temple.

It is the desire of Pope Benedict that everyone come to what Holy Scripture calls 'the obedience of faith'. He enjoys a little leisure time; but his whole desire is to bring people away from dissent and disobedience. The really new, radical way of 'being Church' today is to believe everything the Church teaches, as he does, and to put it into practice.

We should trust that God sees our efforts to love Him. If we worry about our little failings, when we are exhausted from having done great work for Him amidst opposition and spiritual assaults, we are like a soldier who has travelled hundreds of miles in dangerous mountains to save the lives of his comrades, and who now lies wounded, but who apologises for not having cleaned his teeth or done up his top shirt button.

By the powerful prayer we offer in the name of Jesus Christ, we can - by His grace - help to remove evil influences from the souls of people trapped in sin. Demons flee at the sound of Jesus's name, and peace is restored to the heart, soul and mind, with a renewal of innocence and trust.

Where people build modern towns, and good housing, they sometimes become proud of their achievements. But the best test of a modern community is to see how it treats its poorest and most helpless members. Of what use is a modern street to a disabled person who cannot cross a high kerb?

Some people say it is wrong to request clarity in doctrine or to criticize the words of dissenters in the Church. Truth sets us free, however. Heresy and dissent needs to be uncovered, so that people are not led astray, their souls endangered - just as a doctor is being kind when he tells a patient that he has discovered an undiscovered wound. Only by speaking about a wound can he gain consent to cure it, restoring the patient to health.

Christ showed me a stretch of land before me, like a forest-floor covered in snow. This represented, He explained, the new day which stretched ahead. I can make careful footprints on it, by what I choose to do. I should use my time well, and 'walk' carefully.

There is no need for irreverent liturgies to be offered to youngsters, in the hope of sparking an interest in religion. It is better, in Christ's sight, to prepare joyful social events for them, followed by thorough catechesis, and opportunities for Reconciliation. Then there can be a beautiful inspiring Mass, or Adoration and Benediction.

A sinful soul, damaged by a seriously sinful way of life, is like a bombed-out shop in a war-zone. Rubbish is strewn all over the street, from the blast: and no trading can take place until the premises have been cleaned, mended, painted, furnished and re-stocked. As kind people can make a place habitable, so the prayers of our Blessed Lady are powerfully effective in restoring souls to their earlier beauty.

Prayer and penance, faith and love, are essential. A person who hopes to reach the highest stages of the spiritual life, and Heaven, whilst ill-prepared and ill-disciplined, and self-centered in his opinions and plans is like a man who declares that he will climb Mount Everest by his own methods, and who sets out ill-equipped, and wearing flip-flops on his feet.

Some people are so engrossed in their own interests that it is only when an apparent disaster tears a jagged hole in their hearts or in the fabric of their lives that they look up, yearning for help - and allow the Holy Spirit, unceasingly ready to help, to bring light, truth and consolation into their lives.
