Someone who refuses to forgive, and who hates and despises someone else, is as if piling up furniture against the inside of the door of her soul. God and His Light cannot shine in. She freely chooses to make a tomb of her own soul, and will find herself in Hell, if she perseveres in sin.

A person who refuses to forgive is like someone who piles up furniture against the 'door' of his own soul. God's light can not come in. That man makes a tomb of his own soul.

Christ our risen Lord was Present above the altar, as if ascending from the tomb, His hands uplifted to the Father, interceding for us who believe in Him, our High Priest.

Our Blessed Lady had to cope with the apparent burial of all her hopes, as her beloved son was placed in the tomb. But we, like her, must trust in God's promises, that good will eventually, definitively, defeat evil.

Through the free gift of Divine grace, all that Christ out God did for us in His earthly life has been given to the Church to dispense. It all stemmed from His being made flesh in the womb of the Virgin Mary. As man, He preached the truth, suffered and died for our sins, rose up from the tomb, and by rising up to Heaven made a Way in which we can follow, by our union with Him in our Baptism: a union made stronger by prayer, sacraments, and good works.

Christ suggests that when we have to deal with a person who is angry, abusive and unwilling to listen to reason we try to act with pity and charity; but if such a person refuses to be helped, we can picture ourselves as being with Jesus in the boat, as the demoniac once shrieked amongst the nearby tombs. Like Jesus, we should remain calm and patient.

Only because Christ suffered and died, as man, to conquer sin and death by rising up from the grave, has He made it possible for us sinners to follow in His Way. We who trust in Him, and go into the 'tomb' in our Baptism, and renounce sin, and carry our sufferings in patience, like crosses, know that our prayers are heard, and that Heaven awaits all who remain faithful.

The newspapers depict, from time to time, horrible pictures of cellars where sadistic men have entombed helpless victims, for the satisfaction of their perverted plans. If they do not repent before they die, such men will find themselves 'entombed'. by their own choices, in Hell, where the 'treatment' inflicted by the demons is worse than anything suffered on earth.

This man had entombed himself within the sins of which he refused to repent. When he died, the sins in which he had blanketed himself burst into flame, enclosing him in fire, cutting him off from the love of God which, time and time again, he had rejected.
